Leaving a Gift in your Will

Gifts left in Wills make a huge difference to the work we can do, whether as a specific sum of money, a share of your estate or a specific item. The Sheiling has been offering excellent education and care to some of the most vulnerable people in society for over 70 years and you could create a lasting legacy by helping to continue this unique provision for the next generations by remembering us in your Will.

It might also benefit your estate if it is taxable. Gifts left to charities in a Will are free of Inheritance Tax (IHT). Additionally, if a person leaves at least 10% of their estate to charity, the IHT charge for parts of the estate not left to charities (or your spouse) are reduced from 40% to 36% so, not only are you supporting a worthwhile cause, but you could also reduce the IHT bill for the rest of your beneficiaries too.

When leaving a gift in your Will, it is vital to quote the charity number so that there is no confusion which charity you intend to gift to if the name changes over the years.

Your support will help to provide opportunities that give our young people a chance at a more independent life. Thank you.
