Admissions

School

We carefully manage the admissions process to ensure successful transition for new students joining the school.

Our admissions process involves visits from family/parents to site and completion of an application form.
The school will also need to receive a copy of the EHCP and any supporting professional reports where an application indicates that our provision is potentially suitable. We will then assess prospective students with a
visit to their current education provision and, if assessment progresses, the prospective students will be invited to come to the Sheiling School for an assessment day and/or overnight visit (if a residential placement is being sought).

We also receive consultations for places at the school directly from Local Authorities.

Please note that the school will only complete an assessment process within 12 months of potential placement to ensure assessments completed reflect current needs.

College

At the first stage of our admissions process, we strongly encourage you to come and visit our beautiful setting and observe our holistic approach.

We hope that a visit to us will help you to feel fully informed about what Sheiling College can offer and, if you feel as though it is the right setting for your young person, we ask that you submit an application form and copy of the EHCP to register your interest.

We will use this as an opportunity to gather information and relevant reports, such as EHCPs, to gain a greater insight into each young person. If it is agreed that the educational, social and therapeutic needs of the young person can be met, a formal assessment process will take place. This includes a thorough assessment carried out in their current educational placement or at their home, alongside an invitation for them to experience a day at Sheiling College. For residential boarders, this will include an overnight stay.
