The Sheiling Ringwood is an independent residential special school and college for students with severe and moderate learning difficulties and disabilities.  A member of the Camphill communities, we provide education and care services within a beautiful environment, where staff, whatever their job role, have the opportunity to make a holistic, real and positive difference in the lives of our students. Set in a stunning sustainable and eco-friendly 40-acre site close to the New Forest and Dorset coastline, the natural surroundings of our school and college provide a rich, enabling and therapeutic learning environment for students.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified, innovative and motivated massage therapist to join our multi-disciplinary team. You will be working with our school and college students (aged 6-25 years).

We are a dynamic, friendly multi-disciplinary team made up of: anthroposophical therapists (including an anthroposophical Doctor), behaviour support coordinators, speech and language therapists, a physiotherapist, occupational therapists and a registered nurse. You will be part of this team, yet we expect an ability to work independently as a massage therapist in the school and college. You will also be part of a creative therapy department, working closely with other therapists.

This post offers the opportunity to support children/young adults with complex needs to engage holistically with massage therapy to support the students and the intended therapeutic benefits of massage.

Massage therapy with children and young adults with learning difficulties is exceedingly rewarding as their response to massage is so immediate and profound.  Our current massage therapist has been with us for nearly 30 years but they are now stepping back from their role so we are looking for a successor.   Initially, there will be a possibility to job share as our current Massage Therapist will continue to work 2 mornings a week from but will withdraw fully within a few years.

In addition, you will be consolidating your skills in managing a caseload and multidisciplinary team working. The caseload is varied and can cover autistic spectrum disorder, developmental delay, learning disabilities and neurological conditions. You will be confident, adaptable and dynamic to provide assessment and interventions for students. This will include: one to one therapeutic sessions, group therapeutic sessions, attending meetings, planning sessions and MDT discussion.
